Aidan is seeking an assistant for our Young Children’s Community to begin in August 2024.

Founded in 1961, Aidan is an independent AMI Montessori school, serving 160 students, ages 18 months through Grade 6, in the beautiful Woodley Park neighborhood of Northwest Washington, D.C. Aidan is one of the oldest AMI Montessori schools in the United States. In addition to our deep commitment to authentic Montessori education, we strive to cultivate and maintain a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive community.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of the classroom environment through care and maintenance, including but not limited to creating and repairing materials, cleaning the environment, refilling supplies, preparing and supervising snacks and laundry, and keeping materials in good condition.
  • Supporting the Lead Montessori Teacher by helping establish a classroom culture of calm, respect, and productive work; assisting in the maintenance of current and accurate attendance records; observing the activities of the students and communicating observations to the guides; supporting with all transitions; helping with naptime.
  • Be a model to students of integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for all persons as well as demonstrate respect and appreciation for racial, cultural, and gender diversity.

Required Experience, Qualifications, and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Early Childhood Development/Montessori Certification
  • At least three years of experience with children ages 18 months to 3 years old.
  • Embrace and embody the school’s mission as a dedicated member of the Montessori community.
  • A willingness to support a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail and organization, and passion for creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination

Preferred Experience, Qualification, and Attributes:

  • Experience in a Montessori Classroom.
