The Black Montessori Education Fund (BMEF) believes that education has the power to positively transform one’s life. Historically within the African-American community, education was seen as a vehicle for liberation. The BMEF envisions an educational approach that places value on the racial, cultural, economic and spiritual background of all and seeks to support the wholistic development of each individual to their fullest potential.

The Margaret Elizabeth Stephenson (MES) Fund

The MES Fund was established in 2000 by AMI/USA to honor Margaret Elizabeth Stephenson, who devoted her life to Montessori teacher training. The MES Fund was the first financial aid fund to benefit AMI teacher trainees in the United States.

The MES Fund awards partial scholarships to selected students based on financial need in the form of tuition reduction. The fund ensures that qualified individuals seeking AMI teacher training can pursue their dreams, regardless of their financial circumstances.
