ABOUT THIS SERIES
WMI trainer Jennifer Shields will lead a virtual, introductory series on various topics for parents, caregivers, and other adults working with or caring for young children.
Recordings will be made available for two weeks after each session.
Gain an overview of the Montessori approach and its basic philosophy: How do children develop in early life and how can we support that development at school and at home?
Children have a drive to be independent. How can we offer the right amount of freedom for children to grow into mature adults? What is the balance of limits that adults must set so that a child can build up a kind of inner discipline? Join us for a spirited presentation on the needs of young children and the role adults play in building grit, resilience, and inner motivation.
Date: November 14, 2024, 7-8pm ET
Join us to explore the developmental process of a child becoming bathroom independent. Instead of adult directed “potty training,” how can we prepare an environment for the child to progress in independence with confidence? Receive practical information that will help you support a child’s toileting “work.”
Date: December 11, 2024, 7-8pm ET
Humans use language to connect. Young children depend on the adults in their lives to help them build their spoken language capacity. This ability is crucial to a child’s social success and helps build the architecture of their brain. Join us in an exploration of tools and techniques to build your relationship with your child and help them connect with others, while preparing them for literacy.
