ABOUT THIS SERIES

Jennifer Shields, AMI Primary Trainer, and Andrée Rolfe, AMI elementary-trained Inclusion Consultant and Teacher Educator, are thrilled to again offer this unique, four-part virtual study series designed to support primary guides as they consider how to adjust lessons for children with specific learning needs.

Each three-hour session will focus on lesson adaptations in one area for children who have challenges with language development, auditory or visual processing, sensory needs, or attention and executive function. This series is designed for primary guides and administrators who embrace the challenge, are interested in expanding their knowledge base, and are eager to weave supportive adaptations into their practice.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

I would thoroughly recommend Lessons in the Casa! This series offers a refreshing re-connection to a student’s initial AMI training plus a deeper dive into supporting children who show us that a different approach is required. Authentic Montessori principles are re-grounded with complimentary ideas for diverse learners seamlessly woven through. Also, full of practical tips to implement straight away and opportunities to engage online with others working alongside young children.

This was a wonderful and enriching experience. I feel more equipped to assist my teachers and students in changing perspective when observing and understanding them, as well as giving suggestions on how to adapt lessons.

This workshop really changed how I see and support children with delays or disabilities. It opened my eyes to the different ways kids experience the world and gave me practical tools to include everyone. I feel more confident, more understanding, and more committed to creating a space where every child feels valued and can thrive.

Jennifer and Andrée have perfected their collaboration and partnership by being very intentional in how they organized and aligned the specialized instruction/education supports with our daily Montessori practices to give us accessible and practical ideas to use in our environments. They both bring their wisdom, experience, and expertise; Jennifer with the Primary-age child in the Casa and Andrée with the specialized instruction. Together they are a dynamic duo.

I felt incredibly supported knowing that we could make adaptations for children in our classrooms and still maintain the integrity of the Montessori philosophy. I had been searching for ways to reach children that were in need of adaptations so this has provided me with a great place to start.

I have become a more intent observer. I have gained several strategies to offer support to those children with unique characteristics.
